Anita Cheesman was raised in San Diego and has always had a dog or two in her life. She loved teaching her childhood dog obedience commands and tricks using little bits of cheese.
Anita graduated from UCSD with a degree in psychology and went on to receive her multiple subject teaching credential. She began working at a small, private school teaching math and science to elementary and middle school students. She now uses her teaching skills to homeschool her daughter and teach K9 Nose Work®.
In 2011, Anita attended an Intro to Nose Work workshop and was instantly hooked. It was the perfect outlet for her dog reactive Rat Terrier, Indigo. While Indi loved playing nose work at home, she was not a dog who could handle the stress of a trial so she left that part to her younger brother, Porter, who entered the family later that year. Porter proved to be a natural at nose work and he and Anita are currently competing at the Elite level.
Anita resides in San Diego with her husband, daughter, and Flat-coated Retriever, Porter. She has been training dogs professionally since 2003. Anita is an NACSW Certifying Official, CNWI, and a National Trial Coordinator.
