Laura was introduced to K9 Nosework® in 2008 after taking an obedience class with Jill Marie O’Brian.  When the session was over Laura, and her husband Chris, were looking for something to do with their active Weimaraner. Ron Gaunt and his daughter were starting a new Fun Nosework® Class.  Since that time, Laura has been very active with the NACSW and has enjoyed watching this sport grow nationwide. Laura has trained exclusively with all three founders and incorporates that knowledge when setting hides for trials.  Laura is also a Supervising Certifying Official, which means she is involved in the training of new COs for NACSW.

Laura’s passion for this sport compelled her to learn more about canine behavior.  She spent several years volunteering her time with the behavior and education department at her local shelter to learn more about canine communication and helping with programs designed to increase adoptions for the animals in their care.  Because of her passion for helping people, and their dogs, Laura continually attends seminars and workshops on training and dog behavior.

When not acting as a Certifying Official Laura has helped coordinate K9 Nosework® trials in Southern California, acting as Trial Host, Trial Representative and/or Volunteer Coordinator since 2009.  When Chris and Laura travel as CO’s to trials across the country the other will act as a volunteer.

Laura currently teaches all levels of K9 Nose Work® Classes at the SPCALA in Long Beach and at Rock Solid K9 in Lake Forest, CA. She also teaches specialized workshops and skills clinics, and holds Charity Nosework® Odor Hunt Events.  These charity events have benefited Chase Away K9 Cancer, LA on Cloud 9 (which benefits homeless people and their dogs), and we hold an annual fundraiser at Christmas time that benefits low income families with food during the holidays.
