Sergio DeRojas is currently a Certifying Official, CNWI and Judge for the NACSW.

Sergio is a lieutenant in the Union City Police Department in New Jersey where he works as a K9 Officer and is the Supervisor for the K9 Unit. He has worked with two K9 partners, a German Shepherd and his current dog, a Belgian Malinois named Boom. He is trained in patrol functions and narcotic detection.

Sergio has 30 years of experience training working dogs in protection sports and detection work. He started working for a dog training company as a decoy/helper for various protection sports. Furthermore, he assisted in the training of working dogs in detection work for several Police Departments. Sergio was introduced to Nosework by a phone conversation with Ron Gaunt. As a result of the conversation, he became a judge and entered the CNWI program.
